OTUCHA

A BERLIN-BASED FLINTA+ VOCAL ENSEMBLE

Founded in 2022, the ensemble focuses on the phenomenon of voice, its healing and empowering qualities, and the transformative power of collective singing. We combine artistic practice with social engagement, creating spaces where people of different generations, backgrounds, and experiences come together through voicing and listening.

OTUCHA draws on Eastern European rural singing traditions as critical tools - historically rooted in community care and emotional expression. We reclaim them from nationalist narratives, moving towards feminist and decolonial perspectives. Our practices include singing circles, workshops, public performances, musical collaborations, and artistic research projects.

To give “otucha” is to lift up, to surround with encouragement and comfort.

Otucha is currently carried by Mina Đorđević, Magda Jaroszewicz, Kata Kwiatkowska, Agnieszka Kucharska, Julia Legeżyńska, Doro Michalak, Liene Šilde, and Ola Zielińska. Former members: Paulina Miu Zielińska, Agnieszka Bułacik, Ewa Brokos.
